Yes, another newbie! 727 Transmission Q.

I have rebuilt a 64 Dodge Polara Convertible. Automatic Transmission leaks. On eBay I see a 727 from a 64 Dodge Polara that is freshly rebuilt off of a 383 but mine is a 318 Poly. Does anyone know if these are the same? Mine, of course, is pushbutton and so is the one on eBay.

Thanks in advance for whatever advice someone can provide.

Have stopped leak around pan with new gasket. Leaks out tail shaft??? Also have a problem with one bolt holding it in is stripped. I understand Helicoil will take care of that. I have no experience with transmissions. Probably should just have it rebuilt and solve all problems.

I would just put a new rear seal in the tail and should take care of the leak and as the bolt there are many types of helicoils out there now that can fix it as well, just ask a auto parts person and see what they carry or you can retap and go up one size if need be

I was just asking as far as where it was leaking, not saying it is leaking out the tailshaft.
