New to the forum. Bought a 68 GTX said to be numbers matching. Unfortunately I can’t locate vin stamping on engine or transmission in the usual places (next to oil sending unit and smooth pads on right side of engine and transmission). The engine casting number is correct 2536430-6 with a date code of 10/05/67. I haven’t looked for the transmission casting number as of yet. Any ideas? I wouldn’t think it would be a warranty block and tranny. No evidence of grinding. Is there a possibility it wasn’t stamped?
