Question Ram 1500 Diesel!!!

Just a thought here. With gas prices out of sight and still climbing, we all want to get the most bang for our buck, especially when it comes to fuel mileage. Aside from me, who else would be interested if Dodge introduced a diesel engine for their half-ton trucks? (and cars too for that matter)

There are quiet a few in Europe. If they were to put the 6 cylinder diesel in the 1/2 ton trucks, they would have to upgrade the suspension. I think a 4BT would be perfect.

diesel aint as cheap as it used to be, down the road at the station regular is 125.9 and diesel is 121.9
not worth it anymore in my opinion.....now if they could make a gasoline powered truck match that of the diesel or exceed it, then we'd be talking.

I work for Chrysler, and the rumor was, back in 08, that the new '10 Rams would have a diesel available in the 1500 series. Didnt come true. However with our new Italian masters, they have alot of knowledge with small engine diesel technology. There may still be a small diesel in the works!

The 4 cyl diesels in the jeeps overseas go real good I've heard. Heck, there are guys all over the US swapping in the 4BT motors into whatever they have.

I like that truck. Now only if they would put a built 340, stroked 360 or a super charged 6.1L Hemi in there with a 6spd manual, that would be one angry truck.

I have given some thought to putting a newer hemi into my '98 Ram. The gas mileage with a hemi is a lot better than my 318. I've been trying to gather some info on the electronics and fit problems.

Anyone know who is building this EcoDiesel. Is it a new engine design or is being used in other vehicles now?
