Right Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.740/203.37, Now #4

McGaha had a clean launch and a nice run. Kent's car made a couple of quick moves on the launch and that cost him some ET.

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.634/209.85, Now #3
Right Lane: Ronnie Humphrey Runs 6.693/209.17, Now #9

Jeg made a nice first pass, right down the groove. Humphrey had a good launch, but after that he was chasing Coughlin and losing ground.

Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.011 sec., 330ft-2.795, 660ft-4.279/166.29 mph, 1,000ft-5.557.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.616/209.30, Now #1
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.677/206.95, Now #10

Stanfield's car was really off the pace on the top end, his speed down about 4 mph. Brogdon made a very nice run to take over as #1.

Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.996 sec., 330ft-2.778, 660ft-4.261/166.46 mph, 1,000ft-5.539.
Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.794, 660ft-4.293/164.75 mph, 1,000ft-5.587.

Left Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.598/210.31, Now #2
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.586/210.34, Now #1

With David Connolly driving this weekend, Richie Stevens is acting as "car boss" for Enders this weekend.

Both cars made nice, straight, smooth runs to take possession of the top two spots.

Erica Enders' incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.769, 660ft-4.250/166.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.525.
Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.992 sec., 330ft-2.763, 660ft-4.241/167.22 mph, 1,000ft-5.515.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.554/211.93, Now #1
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.599/210.37, Now #4

Two more strong runs, both in the fifties, but AJ takes over #1 and Edwards slides into the fourth spot.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.591/210.57, Now #4
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.586/210.50, Now #2

The final two cars made nice runs, but Line misses the qualifying bonus points for this round and Anderson settled for second place, more than three hundredths behind first-place qualifier Johnson. In Pro Stock, that's an eternity.

Right Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.582/210.47, Now #5; Best prior run: 6.598/210.31, Was #7

The remaining cars are already in the field, looking to move up the ladder.

Nice side-by-side runs and both move up the ladder.

Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.754, 660ft-4.232/167.14 mph, 1,000ft-5.506.

Round 3 Qualifying

Pro Stock Qualifying Notes, Session #3
By Larry Sullivan

BAYTOWN, Texas - Notes from round 3 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 25th annual O'Reilly NHRA Spring Nationals presented by Super Start Batteries

listing lane, driver name, elapsed time/top speed this round, position in order following run, best prior elapsed time/speed, and position in order prior to run:

Left Lane: Jeg Coughlin Runs 6.661/209.56, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: V. Gaines Runs 6.664/209.36, Now #14; No Prior Run

11:51 a.m. Weather conditions: air temperature 82 degrees, relative humidity 65 percent, barometer 29.91 inches, adjusted altitude 2,422 feet, track temperature 115 degrees.

Jeg had a bad run in the second session yesterday and missed the 12-car cutoff. Gaines has yet to make a full pass.

Both drivers had a lot of tire spin on the launch and they ran almost-identical numbers. It's too early to tell if those numbers will hold up.

Jeg Coughlin's incremental times: 60ft-1.030 sec., 330ft-2.820, 660ft-4.304/166.56 mph, 1,000ft-5.583.
V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-1.035 sec., 330ft-2.823, 660ft-4.308/166.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.588.

Left Lane: Chris McGaha Runs 6.650/209.26, Now #13; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.674/209.65, Now #16; No Prior Run

Again, tire spin on the launch and 60-foot times that start with a one. cGaha had the quickest run so far, so he moves in at 13th, WJ gets temporary possession of the bump spot.

Left Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.636/208.94, Now #14; No Prior Run
Right Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.617/210.08, Now #12; No Prior Run

The times are slowly improving as we work our way up the ladder, Kent quicker than yesterday's 12-car bump time.

Now Jeg Coughlin is on the bump spot at 6.661.

Left Lane: Rickie Jones Runs 6.628/209.46, Now #13; Best prior run: 6.622/209.92, Was #13
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.661/208.75, Now #17; No Prior Run

Jones gets in nicely, but Gray comes up short on speed, tying Coughlin's bump time.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.620/209.75, Now #11; Best prior run: 6.616/209.30, Was #11
Right Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.617/208.68, Now #13; No Prior Run

Stanfield had great early numbers and easily bumped into the field. That puts Coughlin on the outside and Chris McGaha is now on the bump spot at 6.650.

Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-1.004 sec., 330ft-2.787, 660ft-4.268/166.95 mph, 1,000ft-5.544.
Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.252/166.21 mph, 1,000ft-5.536.

Left Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 13.569/73.04, Now #10; Best prior run: 6.616/209.49, Was #10
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.575/211.00, Now #3; Best prior run: 6.586/210.50, Was #8

The bumping is over for this session, so the remaining cars are battling for starting position.

Anderson made the best run of the round so far and moved all the way up to third. KJ shook and slowed.

Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.760, 660ft-4.234/167.61 mph, 1,000ft-5.505.

Left Lane: Erica Enders Runs 6.575/210.64, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.582/210.47, Was #7
Right Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.608/210.37, Now #9; Best prior run: 6.602/210.24, Was #9

Enders had the best 60 foot time of the round and matched Anderson's WT, but not his speed. Krisher was slightly slower than his best run yesterday, stayed ninth.

Left Lane: Dave Connolly Runs 10.686/83.84, Now #6; Best prior run: 6.577/210.57, Was #5
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.575/210.77, Now #4; Best prior run: 6.584/210.93, Was #8

Connolly launched, shook and slowed. Nobile matched Ender and Anderson, took the position from Enders by a tenth of a mph.Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.991 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.233/167.68 mph, 1,000ft-5.505.

Left Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.554/211.13, Now #2; Best prior run: 6.550/211.00, Was #2
Right Lane: Ronnie Humphrey Runs 6.614/210.41, Now #8; Best prior run: 6.582/210.80, Was #8

Two good runs, Line with the best ET of the round, but no improvement. Humphrey made a good run, but failed to improve.

Left Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.563/211.93, Now #1; Best prior run: 6.546/211.73, Was #1
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.596/209.79, Now #7; Best prior run: 6.579/209.43, Was #7

Last pair. Both cars had a bit of tire spin on the launch and neither driver improved over yesterday's best.
