BRISTOL, Tenn. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 10th annual NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Right Lane: Robert Patrick Runs 6.901/200.74, Now #1

Weather conditions: air temperature 88 degrees, relative humidity 41 percent, barometer 28.49 inches, adjusted altitude 4,252 feet, track temperature 139 degrees.
Patrick with a nice pass to start the weekend.


Left Lane: John Gaydosh Jr Runs 7.097/194.46, Now #3
Right Lane: John Nobile Runs 6.865/201.85, Now #1

Nobile was straight down the groove.


Left Lane: Vinnie Deceglie Runs 6.807/203.40, Now #1
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.813/202.94, Now #2

Deceglie with a good looking pass, and Morgan was just a tick behind him.

Both of these guys get in the show...Stanfield needs to out qualify Brogdon to get the last guaranteed spot in the K&N Horsepower Challenge. He is down to one last shot to do that latter today. Greg Stanfield's incremental times: 60ft-1.018 sec., 330ft-2.840, 660ft-4.359/162.24 mph, 1,000ft-5.671. Justin Humphreys' incremental times: 60ft-1.019 sec., 330ft-2.853, 660ft-4.384/160.71 mph, 1,000ft-5.706.

Johnson is 6 - 2 against Jones in prior events. They leave together and then Johnson shook the tires hard and pushed in the clutch. Jones with problems on the top end, but still gets the win. The word from the top end is Jones broke a engine.

Weather conditions: air temperature 90 degrees, relative humidity 37 percent, barometer 28.46 inches, adjusted altitude 4,414 feet, track temperature 134 degrees.

Edwards is 6 - 4 against Jones in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round. Jones had to put an engine in it between rounds. He then took a shot at the tree and turned on the red light. Edwards got real loose around half track and pushed in the clutch for the easy win. This is his seventh win in eight final rounds this year and his 27th career win.
