NORWALK, Ohio - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, Fifth annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:

Left Lane: Steve Schmidt Runs 6.725/204.42, Now #1
Right Lane: Mark Hogan Runs 7.183/145.53, Now #2

Weather conditions: air temperature 67 degrees, relative humidity 64 percent, barometer 28.94 inches, adjusted altitude 2,311 feet, track temperature 74 degrees.

Hogan pushed in the clutch early and coasted on through the quarter-mile. Schmidt with a clean pass, his first of the year. Steve Schmidt's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.812, 660ft-4.325/162.80 mph, 1,000ft-5.628.

Left Lane: John Gaydosh Jr Runs 15.293/94.96, Now #4
Right Lane: Steve Spiess Runs 6.639/206.80, Now #1

Gaydosh Jr with problems right off the starting line and clicked it off. Spiess with a nice pass to start the weekend...Steve Spiess' incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.262/164.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.550.

Left Lane: Frank Gugliotta Runs 11.464/76.83, Now #5
Right Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.693/205.76, Now #2

Gugliotta with problems early and pushes the clutch in. Benza with good pass to start the weekend...Bob Benza's incremental times: 60ft-0.988 sec., 330ft-2.798, 660ft-4.305/163.69 mph, 1,000ft-5.600.

Left Lane: Buddy Perkinson Runs 6.625/207.88, Now #1
Right Lane: Steve Kent Runs 6.644/207.11, Now #3

Perkinson launched hard and keep it hooked up to go to the number one spot. Buddy Perkinson's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.256/165.40 mph, 1,000ft-5.542. Kent with a really nice pass. Steve Kent's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.776, 660ft-4.271/164.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.558.

Left Lane: Richard Freeman Runs 6.643/208.17, Now #4
Right Lane: Kurt Johnson Runs 6.624/208.10, Now #1

Johnson goes to the number one spot with a real nice pass. Kurt Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.767, 660ft-4.257/165.38 mph, 1,000ft-5.541. Freeman with the fastest pass of the session. Richard Freeman's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.775, 660ft-4.271/164.81 mph, 1,000ft-5.560.

Left Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.611/208.91, Now #1
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.615/208.30, Now #2

This was a good drag race with these two go to the top of the list. Warren Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.764, 660ft-4.251/165.92 mph, 1,000ft-5.532.

This was another good looking drag race as these two go to the top of the list. V. Gaines' incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.242/165.92 mph, 1,000ft-5.523.

Left Lane: Ron Krisher Runs 6.603/209.36, Now #3
Right Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.616/208.23, Now #6

Krisher sat on the starting line for a long time after the light turned green and then blast on through the 1320 with a real nice pass. Ron Krisher's incremental times: 60ft-0.986 sec., 330ft-2.770, 660ft-4.252/166.23 mph, 1,000ft-5.528. Gray gets into the top half of the show...Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.982 sec., 330ft-2.766, 660ft-4.254/165.66 mph, 1,000ft-5.535.

Right Lane: Allen Johnson Runs 6.602/209.20, Now #3

Enders with a great pass the first to dip into the 6.50s to go to the number one spot. Erica Enders' incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.238/166.56 mph, 1,000ft-5.515. Johnson with a real nice pass... Allen Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.764, 660ft-4.246/166.42 mph, 1,000ft-5.525.

Left Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.587/209.07, Now #1
Right Lane: Vincent Nobile Runs 6.592/209.07, Now #3

Brogdon goes to the number one spot. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.974 sec., 330ft-2.753, 660ft-4.233/166.46 mph, 1,000ft-5.511. Nobile ties Brogdon with top speed of the session and he goes to the number three spot. Vincent Nobile's incremental times: 60ft-0.979 sec., 330ft-2.758, 660ft-4.239/166.39 mph, 1,000ft-5.515.

Left Lane: Greg Stanfield Runs 6.622/207.82, Now #12
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.602/208.88, Now #6

Anderson gets into the top half of the show...Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.990 sec., 330ft-2.773, 660ft-4.251/166.85 mph, 1,000ft-5.524. Stanfield gets into the show and that bumps out Kent.

Left Lane: Mike Edwards No Time, Now #24
Right Lane: Jason Line Runs 6.589/208.68, Now #2

Richard Freeman is on the bump spot at 6.643. Edwards with violent tire shake as soon as he let the clutch out and pushes it back in...Line launched hard and was straight down the groove to go to the number two spot. Jason Line's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.756, 660ft-4.234/166.76 mph, 1,000ft-5.511.

The Pro Stock cars are running so close tothe edge that just a little slip of one wheel and they are gone!!!!! They can be very expensive to fix for sure!!!!
