Line is 10 - 3 against Krisher in prior events and this is the first time they have faced each other in a final round. Krisher is too quick on the tree and turns on the red light. Line with his quickest pass today and big speed for the win. Line collects his 20th Wally and fifth National event win this year. Line with the win moves in front of his teammate in second place. This is the first time Line has won five race in a season.

I hope Memphis Motorsports Park is host to this event next year. Rumor here in Tennesse is that they have filed for bankruptcy.

Dover closes Memphis Motorsports Park

Dover Motorsports, Inc. (NYSE-Symbol: DVD) announced today that it was ceasing all operations at Memphis Motorsports Park and that it would not be promoting any events in Memphis in 2010.

As previously announced, the Memphis facility had been under an agreement of sale to Gulf Coast Entertainment but Gulf Coast was unable to secure financing.

“This was a difficult decision for us, but one that ultimately was dictated by economics,” said Denis McGlynn, President and CEO of Dover Motorsports. “We greatly appreciate the many years of dedication shown by our Memphis employees and their efforts to make Memphis such a great destination for the racing community – from racing fans and drivers to sponsors, team owners and sanctioning bodies. For all concerned, including the Memphis community, it is truly sad to see Memphis Motorsports Park taken off the racing schedule. NASCAR has approved the realignment of our NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series events from Memphis Motorsports Park to our Nashville and Gateway facilities.”

Rumor: Memphis Motorsports Park sold

The Agent keeps hearing that parent company Dover Entertainment has sold the Memphis racing complex they shuttered recently. The rumor mill had the price to buy the facility ranging from the absurdly cheap $1.5 million to the just plain cheap $2.5 milllion!
The most recent rumor has the track bought by a Memphis businessman for about $7 million for the 700-acre facility that includes a drag strip and a quarter-mile paved oval. The sale of the facility for $7M seems to make the most sense as the Dale Earnhardt Jr. people reportedly had settled on paying around $10M for it -- but that was before the NHRA cancelled their national event and Dover moved its NASCAR race to St. Louis.
Calls to people still working at Memphis have not resulted in any confirmation of the sale. [12/7/09]v
