GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Notes from round 1 qualifying in Pro Stock at the NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series, 42nd annual Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals listing lane, driver name, elapsed time, top speed, and position in order following run:


Right Lane: Kurt Busch Runs 18.334/36.43, Now #1

If the Bikes are any indication, this should be a very quick and fast session. Busch is making his Pro Stock debut....Busch with violent tire shake and pushed in the clutch by the time he got to the Christmas tree.

Left Lane: Bob Benza Runs 6.591/210.24, Now #1
Right Lane: Frank Gugliotta Runs 15.411/54.02, Now #2

Gugliotta with a real nice looking new car and he has tire shake right off the starting line. Benza with his career best E.T. and speed pass here. Bob Benza's incremental times: 60ft-0.995 sec., 330ft-2.771, 660ft-4.249/166.74 mph, 1,000ft-5.520.

Left Lane: Bob Yonke Runs 14.477/58.67, Now #3
Right Lane: Mike Edwards Runs 6.496/213.47, Now #1

Yonke with problems right off the starting line and he pushes in the clutch. Edwards with a little right around the 60-foot mark and then blast on through with the quickest and fastest pass in the history of Pro Stock. Mike Edwards' incremental times: 60ft-0.978 sec., 330ft-2.731, 660ft-4.187/169.21 mph, 1,000ft-5.441.

Left Lane: Richard Freeman Runs 6.592/209.98, Now #4
Right Lane: Rodger Brogdon Runs 6.495/213.47, Now #1

Freeman is out of the groove early, but reels it in for nice pass. Brogdon now runs the quickest pass in Pro Stock history and matches Edwards' speed with a great pass. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.985 sec., 330ft-2.734, 660ft-4.189/169.47 mph, 1,000ft-5.440.

Left Lane: Shane Gray Runs 6.539/211.69, Now #3
Right Lane: Larry Morgan Runs 6.543/212.09, Now #4

Morgan is appearing in his 500th race here this weekend. This is really good drag race as both of these driver run their career quickest and fastest passes. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.745, 660ft-4.212/168.03 mph, 1,000ft-5.475.
Larry Morgan's incremental times: 60ft-0.998 sec., 330ft-2.759, 660ft-4.222/168.03 mph, 1,000ft-5.482.

Left Lane: Buddy Perkinson Runs 12.762/67.59, Now #8
Right Lane: Warren Johnson Runs 6.505/212.46, Now #3

Perkinson shook and made a quick move toward the centerline before he clicked it off. WJ with his career quickest and fastest pass. Warren Johnson's incremental times: 60ft-0.976 sec., 330ft-2.726, 660ft-4.186/168.70 mph, 1,000ft-5.445.

Left Lane: Ronnie Humphrey Runs 13.749/55.13, Now #15
Right Lane: Greg Anderson Runs 6.495/212.86, Now #2

Humphrey with a lot of tire shake and a quick move toward the centerline before he clicks it off. Anderson matches Brogdon with the quickest pass in the history of Pro Stock history, but will give up the number spot based on speed. These are both career best numbers for Anderson. Ronnie Humphrey's incremental times: 60ft-1.019 sec., 330ft-3.529, 660ft-6.718/069.21 mph, 1,000ft-10.176.
Greg Anderson's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.729, 660ft-4.185/168.72 mph, 1,000ft-5.438.

Gugliotta with violent tire shake and made a quick move toward the centerline before he clicked it off.

Gray with his career quickest and fastest pass and moves up to the number 11 spot. Shane Gray's incremental times: 60ft-0.977 sec., 330ft-2.741, 660ft-4.208/167.91 mph, 1,000ft-5.471.

Brogdon with another great pass and holds on to the number one spot and he now gets the National E.T. record because this is qucik enough to back up his pass and has the tie breaker. Brogdon ties Enders for the National speed record, but enders holds on to it with the tie breaker. Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.984 sec., 330ft-2.736, 660ft-4.194/169.10 mph, 1,000ft-5.447. Krisher with his career quickest pass and moves into the top half of the show. Right Lane: Frank Gugliotta Runs 6.655/208.20, Now #18; Best prior run: 6.628/208.71, Was #18

Weather conditions: air temperature 71 degrees, relative humidity 22 percent, barometer 30.03 inches, adjusted altitude 979 feet, track temperature 109 degrees.

Gugliotta made a quick move toward the wall before he reeled it in, but he will not get in the show.

Rodger Brogdon's incremental times: 60ft-0.980 sec., 330ft-2.734, 660ft-4.197/168.56 mph, 1,000ft-5.456. Brogdon will hold on to the number one qualifying spot and this his first number one qualifier. He is the 55th Pro stock driver to qualify number one.

In my opinion he did very well... Considering his first pass in competitive racing and the center stage he did well... I wouldn't be suprised if we don't see more of him in Pro Stock.....
