1963 Fury
I have a 63 Fury with a 318 poly. The car uses a 727 push button trans. I want to keep the trans in the vehicle. Looking to replace the engine due to limited availability of parts (4 barrel manifold).
- Which year LA style 318 would best take it's place and utilize the existing trans? I don't want to spend a ton of money, but will probably go through the new 318 to verify reliability and performance.
- Can you reccomend a manifold, cam and ingition for this swap as well?

I have heard that the poly is a really good motor.
You shouldbe able to find a running 318 for under $300 easy. There are a ton of them out there. As for a cam and intake, you can't go wrong with Edelbrock's stuff. Already matched for ya. Only thing is they can be pricey.
If that is too much for ya, then I would get the specs of the cam and find a purple shaft cam that is very close.
For intakes, once again, Edelbrock is the way to go. I have never had an issue with one fitting. Weiand on the other hand, I could not get theirs to fit right at all.

Thanks for the information Tim. I just ordered the Edelbrock manifold for a late model 318. My buddy has an Edelbrock 650 I am buying as well. Does anyone have any information on my current pushbutton tranny mounting to a late model 318? Will it work?
