54 Plymouth Question

Hey everybody,

I'm picking up a 1954 Plymouth Savoy in a couple weeks. It needs a slight restoration as it's been sitting inside since 1957. Can anybody tell me which engines, transmissions, etc I can put in it to give it a little more go? Thanks.

You can put almost any thing in it ! To keep it all Mopar I would sugest a late 360 Magnaum and a 44RE ? Overdrive trans.. OR big $$$$ put a newer Hemi in it ....

if my memery is right the 1954 ply will be a 6 volt system. so when going to a newer engine would be the time to convert to 12 volt. 1968 my dad and i put a chrysler 392 hemi in a 1959 ply wagon. but VERY heavy. was NOT easy. if you are going to go to that much trouble just go to a newer V6 or 360 magnum, with an O.D. trans

just understand that most swaps will need some custom work. on a swap like that study up on how to correctly line up the engine, I.E. drive shaft. now ill do my normal rant: do NOT use any more fuel hose than you have to go from the frame to engine, and to the carb. what iam saying is, learn how to cut, flare, bend, STEEL fuel tubing.

I like the 360 V-8 with the auto trans Idea...
Would make for a nice Driver... Just add the A/C...
And change it over to 12 Volt as said before...
