I'm going to frame in the chimney as it does not get used for anything and there is going to be a wall right before it.

I got a little more done last night, just haven't had a change to upload pics this morning.

Well, we have gotten a lot more done in the last few days. Heather's father and mother showed up yesterday and helped tear apart one entire room. A friend of mine showed up and helped with the cleanup.

Hopefully at some point next week during my week away from work (what they call a vacation), I can get out into the garage for a few hours and relax by getting my front D44 put back together with a Detroit locker and some 5.38 gears..... Maybe even send my flat top knuckles out to get milled/drilled/tapped.

Here are a few pics.

Update

It has been a little while so I should update this thread.

The new walk in closet has all new insulation, drywall, electrical, is mudded and primed, the ceiling is done and the hardwood flooring is in. Only thing left to do is paint the walls and install the base and trim boards.

The new bedroom is insulated, drywalled, has all new electrical, and is mudded. I just need to finish mudding some corners and then the ceiling will be next. After that it is just prime, paint, hardwood flooring, base and trim boards.

I also tore apart the old bedroom (new TV/movie room) and got all the electrical done with most of the insulation in. I need to reframe the windows though as someone did not do it properly (used finsih boards only).

I also got the chimney coated with a fiberglass/mortar mixture so it is not leaking anywhere near as bad as it was before. I will be building my own chimney cap for it in the next few weeks.

As far as my auto projects go, I haven't touched them in weeks. I really need to get out to the garage and work on them. Plus, it helps me to relax.

I finally got the gears/locker (5.38 w/full Detroit locker) setup in my front D44 axle lastnight. It took a few hours to get the pinion bearing preload just right but it is all done. I had a guy stop by and drop off a pair of N/T CJ axles that he wants regeared as well.

The walk-in closet is just about done, just have to trim the window and the doorway. The bedroom just needs trim installed as well. Softball starts up today with practice with our first game on Thursday so that will take up a few hours a week that I don't have.

*sigh* At heast the house is coming back together and I don't have to sleep on a pull out couch still.

Well everything is ordered for the CJ axles. Hopefully I can have it all done withine 3 weeks if not sooner. I need to get my flat top knuckles set out for machining and get the old knuckles off of the axle. I'll probably end up cutting the ball joint out just to make it easier on myself.

Hopefully I can also bring home the chassis before the end of the month. We'll have to see what is happening and where I stand with everything else.

Well I guess that my winter projects have turned into summer projects.....

The CJ axles were done within a few days after getting all the parts. I still have my own to work on yet though. The walk in closet and bedroom are just about done, jsut need to finish up the trim work. We'll be starting the front room in a few weeks and then work our way down the stairway to the front door (which is what the picture is).

I want to start off by saying I am no professional when it comes to carpentry or any kind of wood working but I think that we (Heather's father and I) did a pretty good job.

We started this past Saturday and I am just about ready to put the final coat of white paint on today. Heather and I bought this door last year for our house but never had the time to pull the old one out and install this one til this past weekend. Ken said it should take about 3-4 hours to replace the door as long as everything goes smoothly. Like many old homes, nothing goes smoothly but this job was fun.

We removed the old door (it had a simple "grid" style window that people passing by could look in through easily) to find out that someone nailed and screwed it to some pieces of 1x3 strapping that were screwed to the drywall. There was no frame or header around the door. The thresh hold was a piece of finish board nailed to two 1/2" thick pieces of plywood that was supported by the floor boards and kick panel with insulation stuffed under it. We framed the door in properly, reran some of the wiring for the interior and exterior lighting, and now I just finished putting up the trim, caulking and priming. Paint will be later on today or tomorrow morning. Here are some pics. Hopefully you guys and gals enjoy them.

That's right...... A D44 axle with D60 spindles welded (tacked) on. I haven't seen anything like this before so I thought I'd do it. A 1 ton D44.

Also if you look at the front axle behind it, you'll see the gussets welded behind the inner Cs. I got that done on Friday morning.

The cover and truss are from Blue Torch Fabrication in Alabama. The cover is 5/16" thick while the truss is 1/2". I'll be adding to it with some 3/16" running down the tubing.

If you want an empty Bud Light box I'll send you that one. It's from a softball practice that we had last week. Somehow I just could not down a Guinness while running around in 95*F + weather.

The recentered H1 wheels. Supposedly Copperhead Fab did the work on these, but after seeing some of the welds I'm not so sure. Either that or they had a new guy welding. Anyhow, I'll be cleaning these up and rewelding everything on them.... There are only 5 wheels

Thanks guys.

I got a new attic vent installed lastnight. What a difference. I could feel the heat pouring out of it when I was done. I'll hopefully get the front vents done this weekend along with some window and door trim inside.

So I've been slowly working on my H1 wheels. I got them from a friend who got them from a guy who had Copperhead Fab do the recentering and add on the rock rings (at least that's the story I got). Well all I know is that whoever welded the centers and rock rings on did a crappy job. So I have been slowly getting the rock rings done, til I ran out of gas for the welder. I have two rings done and am working ont eh third now. Two more are left after this.

Also, if all goes well, I should be picking up a set of tires for them tonight.

I really need to get some more picture in this thread.

Quick update - My flat top knuckles finally came back from machining and have new spindle bolts and nuts, HD Spicer ball joints and Ballistic Fab high steer arms installed. They got a coat of black paint as well. I have them semi-installed on the axle but need the special nut spanner socket for the upper joint.

The upstairs front room is coming along nicely. I was able to get all the drywall hung, mudded, sanded, primed, the ceiling textured, walls painted and the underlayment all done. I'll be doing the floor this weekend.

I've also got to more trucks sitting in my driveway. One needs both axles rebuilt and the other I need to go through and figure out where all the noises are coming from.

I need to get your crew over to my place. The landlords "handyman" is nothing more than a joke, and I need a LOT of work done on this place. I', almost to the point of walking away from buying this house and trying to find another house

Your progress is phenomenal! Hope your "winter" projects bring you great joy!

Thanks. I'm the one doing the majority of the work. Heather's father helps out when I need an extra set of hands (texturing the ceiling) or when I'm not too sure about something (installed carrying beam in the kitchen).

I actually got some more work done over the weekend. The rest of the flooring is done in the front room, wal mount for the tv is in, replaced the window in our bedroom, trimmed the inside and outside of it, and got the two windows in the front room trimmed as well. What a huge difference in the noise level with the trim in place. I was also able to give my parents a hand with building a drop ceiling yesterday and got an axle torn apart in a truck that I need to rebuild. Hoping to get a lot more done this week.

These should help get the buggy to stop.

Been busy working on other people's vehicles so I have not been getting anything done like I need to.

Well everyone else's vehicles are ready for winter and are fixed..... now back to working on my own stuff.

We have 99% of the upstairs done..... FINALLY! All that is left is some baseboard and priming/paint three windows.

Also, brought the buggy chassis home last weekend. Needed more work than I thought but thats my own fault for not getting to it sooner. Working on re-inforcing the frame rails and mounting the front leaf spring hangers. Hoping to have that all done by the end of sunday so that I can start to place the motor/tranny/t-cases in and making mounts for them. Should be ordering some rear axle shafts soon as well. Hello 4340 chrome moly D60 shafts!
