Do you have the garage, tools, know how, and like to do that kind a thing? if so.... Restore a car, But if you don't know anything, then, go and buy it! it much more fun to restore than to just go and buy!

This all depends. Fully restoring a car usually runs more than the car is worth. So if you want to sell it quickly, do not go this route. This mainly occurs when you have a shop do it.

Doing it yourself would probably save a lot of money, but you also learn a lot. Plus, you can honestly say that you built the car!

Generally it will cost you more to restore it than you would pay for a done car. That said if you are skilled in mechanics and body/Paint or don't have the funds to pay the price for a done car then a project may be the way to go. Just a good paint job runs $5000-$10,000 plus any major body work/Rust Repair. What ever your choice have fun ! Keep in mind the potential value of your chosen project. A Satalite will cost almost as much to restore as a Road Runner but in the end the Road Runner will be worth much more.

Well, I am starting on my first restore on a 65 Fury. Still trying to find parts actually. I do have a bit of experience fixing cars as they have needed to be fixed but nothing quite on this scale, and no bodywork experience. But there are plenty of helpful people and info around if you do the research. Personally I am excited about it, it is something I have always wanted to do. I guess it is all about what you want really.

Just don't buy a basket case. A solid body will make life easier. Even if it needs some work. Folks fix some stuff today that would have been junked just a few years back. Structual work is not for the faint of heart, and very costly to have done. That said there in no better feeling than "I did that" Good luck and keep us up to date.

Can you get a car that you can drive while doing the restore? It is so sweet to tell everyone...I DID IT MYSELF. The cost of a total resto can run into big bucks. So if you can drive it and restore it at the same time, it will still be expensive but little bites at a time. It will also keep you motivated to get the next part of the project going and then planning for future. Whatever you decide...have fun doing it. That is what this hobby is about....FUN.

Working on your own car, driving your car around, attending a Mopar or any other show(s), etc. and doing the social thing.... opens doors! Chances are that someone you will meet... "knows a good body and paint guy". It's fun! I've been looking for a piece of taillight trim for my Fury, for about a year. I found a guy up in Oregon, on a C-Body forum, with a fender, and when I went to get the fender.... he also had the little piece of trim! He gave it to me! The excitement over a little piece of chrome wouldn't happen with a finished, perfect car! I was looking for a mid '60s B-Body, ended up with a C-Body and I have had fun with this car. I'm taking her to the Mopar Muscle Day at the Park in Sacramento this weekend!

Good luck and save your money! lol

if you have mates that are keen to help or at leased keen to hang out go for it . but i tell you it will cost you heaps , everything you pull off you will find more work & costs for yourself . i'll never get 1/4 of the money i spent back let alone all of the hundreds of hours that me & my friends put in . i have spent 15 k on my 383 so far & it still needs another 1 - 1.5k to hear it run . now looking on the net i could buy a restored mopar that runs in 11's for that . i just never had 10k at once to buy anything decent . i wish i could save . if it were me now i'd buy somebodys loss . good luck .

Depends what your level of committment is. I have been building a 73 Duster since about 2003...lol...I thought it would take me only 5 years. Money, money, money...lol...but it was a project I wanted to do with my buddy who is a mechanic. Building it for, and with, a friend of mine's son. He was killed in an accident on Halloween night in 97...He used to have a Duster, so I got ahold of one and am building it with and for his son. On the last leg...just got to save some money for bodywork and paint now. Long journey, but learned lots along the way and will have a ton of good memories...and maybe pass along a love for older cars to the next generation. On the other hand, I recently bought a 70 roadrunner with not too much work to be done. That ones for me.
