a whine in the tranny

2001 dodge dakota stated to make whine in drive train either throw out bearing or like it might be stuck in 4 hi 5 speed any ideas?

3.9L V6 motor? NV3550 or AX15 tranny? Do you get the whine when you step on the clutch or when you don't step on it? Does it do it when you are on the gas or no?

Is the shifter stuck or do you think that the t-case itself is stuck? You have to shift it into 2wd in neutral and then back up a little to disengage it (at least thats what I have to do with my 2000 Dakota).

its the v8 it whines when i step on the gas stops if coasting and put in neutral just seems like its getting louder

Is it happening in all the gears? Could be the throwout bearing going bad.

it happens in all gears I thought the throw out bearing made noise when clutch is pushed in not let out,That was my first guess then maybe a carrier bearing but it doesnt have one thanks again
