I had some bent pushrods so removed the head to inspect the pistons and lifters. My question is in the valve lash on solid lifters which im not familiar with. I cant find information on the gap nor the procedure that is required to perform the indicated action upon reassembly. Also i havent worked on the interior of an engine since I was young. ( a long time ago) so the procedure would need to be explaind in as much detail as possible. thx for your time

slants have solid lifters - its been awhile since i've done mine. i remember spinning the engine with a breaker bar for each one while my dad was topside adjusting them - did one when it was running once too, hot, oily, messy and real fun 
up and running good. The information was .019 on the exhaust and .010 0n the intake at tdc while engine is hot. the whole thing tested me though. when i got it back together it wasnt running so hot. I was very meticulus during the assembly process and couldnt believe that I had made a mistake somewhere. That night in my pajamas it got the best of me so I went out to look things over again .Started it up and opened the hood. to my dismay there was the culprit flashing bright as day in the darkness. one of the plug wires was arcing with the body. a bad plug wire almost had me ripping the head back off.. I decided a victory lap around the block was in order. that little slant six is back to squeeling those 14's again. off to the car show saturday. just in time
