1973 340
I have a number matching 340 engine in my Challenger, 62k original miles. I was looking for thoughts and opinions. Is this year of 340 worth keeping in stock condition ? Thinking of pulling and keeping stock and buying either another 340 or getting a 360 crate motor to drive around in it. I know the(73) 340 is only rated at 245 HP,but I think it still worth keeping original for the car and it was the last year is was produced. Any thoughts or opinions out there???? Thanks

Kind of up to what you are looking to do with the car? Any way you go, I would keep all the number matching equipment to sell with the car at a later date. Just my 2 cents
408's run good. Or step it p to a big block 440...

Thanks for your reply!!! Yeah, looking for another 340 to rebuild with a little more power, impossible to find! Might end up with a 360/408 motor in the end and pull the original motor and save it. Still pondering! Thanks again for your opinion!

A good nice 340 build with some compression and a set of W2 heads is always good... If you build the 340 you have I would recommend you maybe build it as the performance Mopar book says. That way I beleive it will still have it's value in the end.
