1974 dodge dart sport

ok so i have a 1974 dodge dart sport. it was a 225 slant six. had the engine and tranny pulled. purchased a 318 and a 727. bought some cheap motor mounts at an autoparts store. tried to put the engine and transmission together and the are a no match. tried to just put the engine in the body. no go. so i look at the engine casting numbers and cant figure out what any of it means. so do i need a new frame for the engine. or can i buy some mounts that will fit the old 225 slot. then how do i know what 727 i have and what 727 i need.

the engine came out of an 70s or 80s dodge truck.
i dunno where the trans came out of.

so will any of this work at all or am i wasting my time?

As far a the tranny and the motor mounting up together do you have the flex plate on the back of the motor and the torque converter on the transmission, or is it that the bell housing does not even match up to the motor?

If people don't know the answer don't give the wrong one.

There is a company Schumacher that has the conversion mounts you need. The 727 came in both a big block version and a small block version, they do not interchange. Get a small block 727 and a set of correct mounts and it will drop right into place.
