The other morning (cold 3am) I started my durango (318) and heard a loud winding sound. I dont have a supercharger or gear drive so when i turned the key to the off position i found that the truck was still trying to start. the starter was stuck in the on position and running!!! I had to tap the starter with a wood stick for it to release and stop. Im hoping that I can just pull the starter off and clean it up. has anyone else had this problem?

 

You may need a new one or take it to a local electrical shop and have them cleanand rebuild it for you.
