273 rocker shafts
Hi again all.
so I ended up buying a complete set of rockers and shafts and even pushrods from a 273. But once I received them I pulled the shafts out to inspect it all and found out one shaft is incorrect! Naturally I contacted him only to be told “ I wasn’t aware of that and it’s the last set I had”. Very convenient!
anyway these shafts are supposed to have banana grooves and the extra oiling holes in which one has,but the other just looks like my standard 318 shaft. Now my question is if I lay the shafts side by side with the end notches both at one end,will they be both exactly the same or are they perhaps mirrored? I was thinking of just drilling out the extra holes and cutting in the banana grooves but want to get it right. Any photos would greatly appreciated.

actually, I just read that another person had the same tapping from his standard rockers once the new cam went in due to its smaller base circle!
same as my engine. He used,and much cheaper, lash caps! Anyone heard of this? I have not but now I’m super keen to find out more. They sound easy to install as well. Any idea as to what size/s I would need for my 318(standard heads 1980)? If it worked for him then maybe it’ll work for my engine too?
