318 small block

I have a 318 block that was out of an 89 w250 and I was gonna build it for my 390 stroker build but the block turned out to be bad. I'm searching for another 318 platform to build on. I was wondering what are the best 318 blocks that were made because I found out there was slight changes. Like what years had the best most durable block for the 318s?? Any information would be great. Thanks in advance

So basically all 318 LA motors were made of hi-nickel alloy.

I read all newer than 1973-74 are 4 to 8 lbs lighter.

If your serious about the best 318 block find a nhra stock eliminator in O,P or Q with a 318 and I'm sure they'll know. other than that sonic test a few of them.

The 72/73 and possibly the 74 360 block can be bored to 340 bore size up to 40 over as it has the same core as a 340. But this change in 74 or 75.
