361 exhaust headers on a 413 engine doesn't fit frame
I'm putting a 413 truck engine from the mid 60s (supposedly 1964) into a 1960 Fury whose original engine was a 361:
The problem is that on the bigger motor, the exhaust headers from the original 361 that I put on the 413 make the whole thing too big to fit. So I need some less sticking out headers. And I don't know which ones those would be. Any suggestions?
Assuming the correct port and bolt placement for the heads, header fit is determined by body type first (kinda has to be) and then by primary and collector tube diameters.
Besides trial and error getting the headers to fit the Fury, your best bet might be to look into custom made headers, and yeah they won't be cheap, but they will fit.
Other option would be stock Hi-performance manifolds and deal with the power loss.

Power loss? Power loss? Not for me! Racer Hog lists a link that says it is and isn't compatible. That's halfway there. Where would I go to price out custom headers?
And thanks!
Thanks, man. The link says it's for the engine but the site says it isn't compatible with the '60 Fury. Archer says those are two different things. Maybe I could buy these $107 ones and cut away enough of the engine compartment to get them in there?
Go to your local speed shop/auto parts store or even a local muffler guy. They probably won't do it, but might know some place that does in your area.
Local car clubs (with hot rods) are also a good source, OR there's that other thing, Google.
Heck, back in the day, we used the Yellow pages....
You'll have to do a little research for your area, but those guys are out there.
