440 engines.. how much power..?

-ok, on one of the engines theres a number stamped.. it reads 7T440-E and 392 under this previous.. this were located on 1 side were the distributor goes.
-The engine code is 4406630-440-2... dont know what the "2" stands for or what it means..
-I dont remember were I saw this number but it said R5..
The engine #2 said:
-71440-E and I5 on 1 side of the distributor..
-the engine number is 4006630-440-7... again dont know what the 7 means..
-on the intake manifold 05110, and under the 05110 said 3830733
-exhaust manifold 3830247F and under N2
-I think above the engine number it said G138
-the head said AAWJ...
It was late night so this are the only numbers we could get with my brother..

Hey Joe, I think your two engines are the same. You said that the second one reads 7I 440-E, but I think its probably a T like the first one. The 7 T is 1977, 440 ci, and the E denotes a cast crank. Hope I helped a little. Also the T indicates the Trenton Plant.
The 3830733 is an intake that was produced from 74-76.
Your head #'s will be on the head in between valve springs, you'll have to remove valve covers, let me know if i can help.

and thanks for the info about the intake. I think im not gonna use the one the engine has on it. I want one of those talls..

I would say they are both 77 blocks, if they were 78, it would have 8T first.
The casting # 4006630 is any number of 440 blocks produced from 75-78

dude is 100% right 73-78 Engines as far as the 7 or the 2 im not sure gave the decoding book away when the 68 charger was sold. 78 was the last year of production for the rb 440 but they were still using them in 84 in motor homes. that i know
seasoning is when you heat and cool a block yes but it does not make it harder it just stress relieves the block. and if you plan on trying to pull big numbers out of it (much more than stock) i suggest line boring, squaring the block, sonic check, and all the machine work. and if you want high horse get a girdle on your stock block

hey joe66 been off puter for a few but that kit you are showing seems really nice but didnt see anywheres where they say to use that year motors you have but go ahead and ask them what they think but like i said if it were me i would not use that year motor if your looking for a monster motor , a thin wall is a thin wall no two ways around it but some people do get lucky and im sure they last for them but no way are they running 650+ hp but if they are i guess they have proved me and chrysler wrong as they tell you time and time again not to use a late 76-77-78 block for a bracket race or high hp engines nor go over .020 bore but hey its not my money right and if anyone has a motor with that much hp well im proud cause ive always said mopar is the best hehehe and that they are tough ----- check with them (440 source) and see what they say for the heck of it ...
