440 in a jeep

Hello new to Mopar engines and transmissions. Just purchased a 1973 jeep with a 440 #2536430-5 on the driver's side. So much conflicting information on the internet. What did I buy? What did the engine originally come from? How do I look up what transmission it has? Appreciate any help. Was going to wheel this thing. However if its a rare or valuable mopar engine. I'd rather sell to someone that needs and wants it. Thank you in advance for any assistance you may have...

There’s a pad to the rt of the distributor as your looking at the engine from the front, take a picture of the numbers and characters on that pad and post them here , they will identify what the 440 started out as.

gonna go out on a limb and say it's likely a run of the mill 440 with a 727 tranny, but who knows? will be interesting to follow this thread.

Its just a run of the mill 440
1966-1972 440 RB ... Nothing crazy...
The flat pad he is talking about is the one rite next to the Distributer clamp base... And rite above the right hand water pump mounting bolt..... in the picture the pad can be seen between the 2 plug wire retainers, under the spark plug wires.... You may have to scrap the paint away to read it.

That Looks great after you cleaned it all up some..... Bad Azz !!!!

Update.

Its up and running. Sounds amazing. Condenser was bad, a relay put some fuel in the carb and was pleasantly suprized. Need to drop the fuel tank and see the condition. Slow progress but at least it runs...

Another update...

Fuel tank is bad unfortunately. Set up a boat fuel tank. It runs and drives!, all gauges work. Oil, water, tach, oil pressure, volts, clock, all auto meter gauges older style but look new. Needs new motor mounts, the original builder used some kind of composite material that is failing. Probably going to use hockey pucks. The idle is a little high? Not use to Mopar. Its roughly 900 and wants to go as soon as put in gear or let off the brakes? Any ideas would be helpful. It doesn't smoke and exhaust isn't loud amazingly suprised...

I’d check for vacuum leaks causing the high idle.

The idle was set high probability for offroad use? No vacuum leaks. Now set at roughly at 700. Thanks everyone for the help. This forum has the best attitude and advice. Have done several builds and makes & models. But got to give this forum the best respectful professional shout out. Others are not so nice.... thanks again everyone...

Top off. And some progress

The 2 top gauges where for a turbo diesel that it had prior? No details on that build.
