440 price? worth it?

Well Im needing a 727 small block tranny so I put an add on the local radio and got a call. A guy that lives about 30 miles away has a 440 and 727 tranny. He wants $500 for it. He says that he has it set up so you can start it right up and listen to it. He says its either a 72 or 73 model. He also said that he ran the numbers and its a 345 hp motor and now it has an edelbrock intake and carb. My question is do you think this would be a good deal because I have no idea what they are worth. Im kinda waiting before I go look at it because one of my friends said he knew a guy that had a built 440 six pack for like $400 a year or so ago. Thanks for the help!

$500 for a running 440/727 that you can hear run before you buy it is a good deal.

A built 440 six pack for $400...... Hell would freeze over first.

Go with the $500 deal. It would be a great upgrade from what you have now. Plus you could sell your small block and recop some of the money that you spend on teh 44/727 and dropping it into your car.

I agree, it is a great deal! Don't wait or someone else will go get it! You cannot even buy a 6 pack intake for $400. Go get your truck, go take a listen, ask for a compression check (should be around 180) and if it checks out, pay the man and take the motor and trans!!!

$500.00 would be a steal for the 440 as for the other one being built for $400.00 um yeah sure sounds totally real he probably has a alloriginal hemi cuda with 1000 miles for $1500.00 lol

Man you cant go wrong. Worse case scenario you flip it for parts or sell the tranny and keep the motor. This is a no brainer man.
