5.7 hemi engine swap, Dodge dart

Im getting ready to drop a 5.7 hemi into a 68 dodge dart, has any one had experiance with swaping out this engine before into a older car? Have some questions on the wireing. Also this engine came out of a 06 jeep g.cherokee, and I have the trans and transfer case im trying to get rid of.

i'm sure that if you throw the tranny up on craigslist that someone will buy it.

I think a 5.7 or 6.1 Hemi would be a great engine to run in an old Mopar. Are you going to run the fuel injection or switch to a carb? and what type of trans are you planning on running? I thougth I seen a Mapor magazine at a rack that talked about such a swap but don't have a copy at home.

The best thing to do and easyiest is to make sure you get all the wiring from the jeep as it will make the switch over easy and im sure you will have to mod your trans bracket and motor mounts but the end result will be great

the 727 tranny will bolt right up to it minus the top center bolt, they make a special flex plate to adapt. I want to leave it fuel injected, they make a stand alone harness but its a $grand. I think I can do the wiring myself and make it work before I drop that much on a harness. they make engine mounts that will work with a "A" body. I think TTI makes headers that will drop in too.

I am honestly not pushing another site BUT that is exacly the project I am finishing up right now. You can find tons of information on this swap at www.Crazy4Carz.Com

The car started life as a '67 6cyl auto and is now a '68 hemi superstock car. the engine is stroked, pushed .020 over bore, 11.2:1 compression, Cam to my spec's, lightweight diamond pistons (ring land moved down and deck thickened for nitrous), all forged internals, Hbeam rods, forged crank, Total seal rings, Oversize stainless valves, 5 angle comp valve job, CNC ported polished, Edelbrock 2X4 intakke, TTi mounts, polished headers....

Motor alone should make 600, and another 400 spray. I am looking for low 9's for this car. 8 point cage, full frame connectors, wheelie bars, chute. AND ALL STREET LEGAL AND TAGGED!!!

There are many more progress pi'c on there. PLEASE let me know how I can help. I am almost finished up and have come up on just about everythin so far. I am happy to answer anyquestions you may have. There are fuel issues you will have also, and cooling issues as well. Don't forget you have to relocate the oil filter. There is so much more... Great project, good luck with it. Just take your time when it is done it will be a great car.

I'm hoping for a down hill track with a good tail wind.
