65 Cuda - Help Decoding

Just purchased a 1965 Barracuda from an older guy and I think it's kind of a rare car. According to the vin and fender plate it's a V8 4bbl Commando 273 automatic. The only thing I'm confused about is the number at the bottom of the fender plate. Is it a sequence number, or a shipping number, or an order number? and does that determine its rarity or does it matter? On mine it says under "SO" 405 and under 'NUMBER" it's 00081. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I don't know what the numbers mean, but that's an awesome, rare and cool combination Cuda.

I forget what Chrysler called it but it’s like a build number, you can find it stamped on the radiator core support and other places on the body.

Nice, but not really rare. A formula S would be less common. And it's a Barracuda, as the OP said. Cuda is a trim level of the later E body Barracuda. There were over 64K built, although many came with the slant six.

Right, the Cuda name came later. They only produced about 4500 273 4 barrels with automatics. I rarely see that combo at shows or cruise meets. I have a soft spot for those smaller engines that competed against the Goliaths.
