69 GTX Need vin/fender tag/motor# help
Trying to figure out what we have. 1969 GTX. We need help in finding out where to locate the s/n on the motor to find out if # matching motor in this car. Also if anyone can point me in the right direction on how to decipher the vin# and fender tag. I am going to post pic of both. This car was bought form Graham, Tx for my brother in laws son. He has no interest and will be going up for sale. Just need to know what we have in order to post for sale. It has a 4 speed, no console in it. Ac, car runs.

Frankie, look on the side of the block, right against the oil pan mounting flange. Passenger's side. There will be a machined pad maybe 1/2" high. If it's a numbers matching engine, the sequence number of the car will be stamped there. The sequence number will also be stamped in about the same place on the tranny.

Here you go on the VIN number, I need a better pic for the fender tag though. I do this stuff for my business and I do not like to be inaccurate.
VIN# RS23L9G229467
R=Belvedere, Satellite
S=GTX
23=2-door HTP
L=440 High Peformance
9=1969
G=Assembled at St. Louis, MO plant
229,467=production number

If it's a 440,426, or 413 look at the front of the block, in front of the intake. There will be a machined pad cast into the block with a letter and number. A 69 440 will read something like E 440 (and possibly HP) if it's a b block, then there will no pad there, but under the passenger side head, there will be a machined pad with the motor size. If the distributor is in the rear of the engine, you have a small block.

Okay I can tell you on the fender tag, that the top line first 1, v-21, thats hood performance treatment. means that it had the bloack hood stripes. next to bottom line. the a-4,a-4 means the paint code, platinum silver. exterior, roof, then later down that row, another a-4, means the int. color. man thats a cool car. I havent heard of or seen to many a-4 cars, let alone triple silver. id spend the 30 bucks and send a rubbing of the tag to galen and have him document it. even if it isnt a #`s car, thats cool.congrats.

I took a shot at trying to read the fender tag and here is what I found.
A4= silver metallic, upper and lower body and interior trim
P6S=interior color and material, pewter/black vinyl
E86=440, 1-BC, 8cyl, my source material is not correct as there was no 1-bc 440's. My guess is that it is a 4-bc.
D32=3spd Auto
RS23=GTX 2-door htp
