Does anyone remember being at the Mopar Nats back in the mid '90's and seeing some clown dressed in a road runner outfit, and running the quarter mile (on foot)? I'm not going to admit that I did it (koff koff) but 90 seconds @ 7mph isn't a bad pass in that kind of stuff.

Anyway, that was an impulse thing, so of course I don't have any pics of the actual run down the strip, just a few with cars that we took for owners. If anyone has a pic of that run, could you send me a copy? Thanks.

Nope, the starter kinda looked at me like I was escapee from a mental institution, threw up both his hands and told me I was next and got a bye run. He stopped the next two cars up back at the bleach box. I staged VERY carefully, the tree came down, and I made that road runner leap into the air, kicking both feet back and forth, and then took off at a dead sprint. Was kinda funny, no one in the bleachers could see what has happening till I got in front of them, then the whole section would just erupt in laughter and applause.

I had that pic, and one that some magazine took when i was sitting in a 69 Hemi bird. I just can't find any that show me on the strip. I was wondering just how foolish I looked lol

I didnt see you do the run, But i remembrd hearing it over the loud speaker , and then saw you walking around later, that day.LOL. that was good. Do you member the guy in the super hero costume cruising brice the last year before it went to indy? Mopar Man. he had a blue outfit and a yellow cape.

Oh yea... Captain Mopar lol. He folowed me around for a while at Natl Trails, telling me we should hang out together since we were both heros. Kinda felt sorry for him, I'm still not sure he didn't believe that costume made him a hero. What was it he was driving, something like a newport wagon with double sized, add on fender fins and some other stuff?

I didnt see his ride, i did see him though on brice, he was riding in a military jeep. all restored. man them were the days werent they?

It was different this year. Maybe it comes with age. One other thing I really remember from the road runner day... everyone seemed to want a picture of the road runner with their car. One particulary attractive young lady, my wing around her shoulder, and she kept rubbing her ummmm "chesticular appendage" against me. Well... I'm not too politically correct, and I told her if she kept that up, the road runner was going to have plumage he normally isn't seen with. She laughed like crazy, said hold on a second, and my buddy started taking pics. She was removing clothing down to a VERY skimpy bikini. And there I was, with this big beak I couldn't see below, and she was about 8 inches shorter than I <sigh> And of course, the ex wouldn't let me keep those pictures. Sometimes life just isn't fair

LMBO. thats good, I know what you mean, back in 92, when a nice lookin blonde was miss mopar that year, i stood in line for like 3 hrs. to get her to autograph a poster for me . I hung it up in the shop i worked at. 1 day i looked at it aand noticed that something was odd about it. I looked closer and saw that her eyes and teeth were blacked out and had devil horns on her head, see my wife would come down to the shop at lunch and hang out with me. I never caught on till I really looked at it. All I could do was laugh, when I asked her about it, first she looked at me like I just called her old, then she started laughing, . So i understand about not keping the pics.
