The car in question was built in October 1970. It was registered in March 1971 as a 1971. The rear lights are that of a 1971. There are no turning indicator lights on the front corners of the hood like a 1970. I thought that maybe the front end was in an accident and replaced the fenders without the lights...that is not the case. Thoughts?

The fender mounted turn signals were probably an option.

if it was built in october of 1970 that would make it a 71 model year car. model change over happens between july and august every year

 

I looked for a picture and found a picture of a '70 and a '71.

The '70 is the black one with that smooth looking grill!

 

The picture shows it,the '70 had the two bulges in the hood. That '70 is one beautiful car!

 

sport fury's and gt's had the bulge hoods in both 70 and 71 other models had flat hoods
