Exclamation 72 Cuda Leaf Springs - Help!

My Cuda has a 44.5" centers distance between the front hangers (for the rear leaf springs). My 8-3/4 axle has 44.5" between the perches. At the rear hangers (shackles) the centers distance is 47.5". This isn't making sense to me and I can't get the springs on. Do I need offset shackles? Do I need to move the perches out? How was factory set up?

The axle I don't think is the original. I went to rebuild the brakes and 1972 parts were not right. Turned out 1969 parts were right (for adjuster and spring kits).

Do the leaf springs sit at an angle thus the perches should be at 46" centers (or something close)?

Thx for any help!

Everything you have is correct. The E body springs are installed at an angle. They will go, just work with it.

I'll try again. Think I'll float axle this time instead of doing one side. Thanks!
