Hello, I have a 1978 Adventurer 300 Club cab It came with a 360 and 727 short tailshaft transmission. I recently found a 1978 440 with 727 short tailshaft transmission from a motor home. tailshaft from 440 appears to be about 4 inches longer total approx 12 inches. Will this trans work with my truck? Why the difference in trans length? Any help is greatly appreciated

 

you need to get a hold of these guys. http://www.areds.com/ have known them from about the late 60s. 90% of ALL the trans shops get most of there parts from them. they will have the answer to any Q.
