Advice on selling small block 408
Hi all. I'm new here. I need some advice on selling a small block I purchased on eBay about 7 years ago. My question is, am I better off selling it complete/ as is, or parting out? The problem I have is, I moved since acquiring the engine and lost all the documentation.
I am a very thorough person, I remember researching the build shop and I learned they are quite reputable. They were in Florida IIRC. What I do know is this: The engine began life as a 360. I was bored and stroked w/ a cast crank and now is a 408. It has 10.5:1 forged pistons but I do not know the manufacturer. It has an Ultradyne .620 lift roller cam, I do not know any other cam specs. It has ported W5 heads and a port matched dual quad tunnel ram. It also has a large capacity, deep oil pan. I also have, a brand new set of polished nickel tti, E-body headers for it. All has never been used, the engine was never fired. I do know the name of the shop and build are etched on the crank but I haven't pulled the pan in years to re-confirm. The engine shows no visible signs of corrosion and looks as good as the day it was delivered to me. Engine is about 90% complete. Needs distributor, carbs, a few gaskets etc.
I just would like some advice on the best way to recoup as much ROI as possible. I purchased the engine for about $4500 7 years ago. I do not have any aspirations of recouping this full amount, but obviously would like to do as well as I can. I really just want to unload it as I have a Harley build happening right now. Thanks for the help.
