Great memory kelly! Ive said that many times..this is my opinion and its just that an opinion for the street block to block I like a short stroked motor. Shorter stroke quicker rev. but lots of ppl disagree with me.

A 360 crank will work in a 318, you just have to have the crank turned to fit your journals on the 318.

I had a 318 stroker in a 73 Dodge D100 the engine was reliable and quick. But don't expect great gas mileage. Thinking about building one for my Doba.

318 (bored 30 over)
360 crank turned to fit.
340 purpleshaft cam lifter set.
340 factory intake
360 J heads slightly worked
600 Edelbrock Carb 1406
727 auto with shift kit
9.25 rear butt I can't remember the rear gear ratio.

You are right dead, the later magnums are roller motors...

But not to dismiss or high jack the thread, IMOO I would lean to a BB or RB build, as the old adage says "There is no replacement for displacement....."

While that is true if done carefully with the right choices in parts a 318 can be a great stroker motors. I had one great for Mustang and Camaro killers.

I have heard that the 318 has more for a 408 storker kit with dome pistons and deck the block and a better line up with the rods pistons and crank . Now the wedge stroker to get them to hold 10grand would be the deal go big but been though a few blocks . but the 318 is a thick block the 360 are'nt to thick . but for steet you get les vacum power brake are over rated right . good topic

You are right about the 4bbl vs 2bbl.
