Auto Makers Missing the Big Picture

Honestly this is one of the biggest issues that I find in any vehicle I drive…. Where do I put my phone?

Now I know what you’re thinking.. “that’s completely your preference”. But honestly if you think about it, who doesn’t need some kind of default option for phone holders/chargers besides a stupid USB plug somewhere on the console where your phone HAS to be plugged into in order to use CarPlay? Why aren’t there standards for MagSafe modules built into every console somewhere?

I rant, especially here, because my 2020 Jeep Compass has literally nowhere to put your phone after plugging it in. I’ve tried multiple stick-on dash mounts, but the textured dash just doesn’t like them. I hate window hanging mounts. The only thing left is a vent mount and I can never find the right one.

Ok, that was a bit clickbait’ish. But if anyone has the answer. Please share.

My two cents is a little harsh..... Turn your phone off.... Put it in the glove box, or in your pocket, or in your backpack, and sit back and enjoy the ride.
No need to be messing with the phone while driving, and way to many people do it.. Enough accidents happen with just the basic diversions and distractions and i dont feel "hands free" is the answer as well...

My point, Just turn off the phone and enjoy the ride from point A to B....

I agree with just enjoy the ride. I guess if where to put your phone is your biggest problem, you're doing pretty good in this crazy world.

Audio Ingenuity has come a long way... I'm sure the dealer or a high-tech installer would put a cool wireless system in and all you would need is to plug the phone into the usb port and put the phone in the glove box and use the entertainment center to do the rest...
Just my point of view....
Cheers

I agree, and wish it were that simple. But my job is one that I have to do on the road. Sure I could pull over for every text or email. Sure I use CarPlay and Siri as much as I can. But having to pick up my phone to see my phone screen is far more a distraction than it should be if I could have it at a glance.

If you are of those that are still looking at your phone 15 seconds after the light turns green, I will tell you where to stuff that phone.

Hummmm.... I would think that E-Connect would have been way more sophisticated by now?
I suppose you could add on of those bulky Computer Stands and run a laptop or tough book if you needed to? Not 100% sure, But i think the web connection is through Grumman or something like that... Cloud based or outer space connection.... lol

But i get what your getting at.... Hope you find something that fits your needs..... You may just come up with the Million Dollar Idea?

I have found bulletpoint makes great phone holders. We have a 2 phone holder in the Ram and am getting them for my Jeep also. Unfortunately they don't have one for a compass but you could reach out to them and if there is enough demand they might make one. Also might have to do with dash design as they use existing screws to mount.
