Big Block dipstick in W200
The 360 in my 74' 3/4 ton W200 4 speed, 4X4 died and I am in the middle of replacing it with a 383 from a 67 Newport that was rear ended and totaled. I had to change the oil pan as the deep end on the Newport was in the front of the engine and wouldn't clear the front axle. With the dipstick located at #3 cylinder it is now at the shallow end of the pan. The dipstick bottoms out on the pan and sticks out of the tube 3.5". There is a 1/4" NPT tapped hole I plugged about 2" up on the side of the deep end of the pan. Is there a special adapter that is supposed to go into this hole that will allow me to read my oil level? Thanks!

Hi again I went to the shop and looked at the Mfg. Service Manuals and they had nothing that would help. I looked over the engines I have in storage and they were all from cars based on the motor mounts. Sorry I wish I could have helped. If I find something I will get back to you.

ok here's what I lerned and remember from when I worked at the dealership when I was a kid. First I found this sightwww.440source.com/oilpans.htm The oil trucks I serviced from 72- 74 had a weird dipstick. If you go to the web sight I have shown you will get the details you need. Good Luck
