Camshaft

we own a dodge ram from 2011 with 182.683 miles ( 294.000km ) on the clock.
Because of broken exhaust bolts i took the heads off.
i gonna mount new valve seals and gaskets and clean the heads up.
i gonna mount also shorty's.

Now i was wondering which would be a great camshaft for performance and a choppy sound ?

Check COMP CAMS. COM and see if you find anything, I;m not sure you can get the Old Choppy sound with the newer EFI and Computer controlled cars? All the ones I hear sounds like a Bass Boat out in the lake. But thats just me !!! Comp Cams has a large selection, thats just what comes to mind at the moment...
Now if you go Naturally aspirated, that may be a different story...

Good Luck with the Cylinder Head broken bolt extractions... Hope you get them all out without issue... Some can be a real pain in the butt...

Keep us posted on your build.... Mopar On.... Cheers

I’d be replacing valves, keepers and retainers on those heads if I were you, having the heads off now before you drop a valve is a blessing! Rocker assembly's are inexpensive and are a where item along with pushrods so have a close inspection of them. Don’t make the mistake of assuming they are good. Going through the top end will decide whether Hemi will go another 100k or drop a valve at any time.

If you want a good compromise between performance and choppy sound, I recommend looking at the Comp Cams Xtreme Energy or Lunati Voodoo camshafts, both of which are well balanced for the 5.7L Hemi engine. If you're more focused on a very aggressive sound and maximized high-rpm performance, go for more aggressive profiles like the Comp Cams 274HR or a Holley Camshaft
