can any one explain this

CAN ANY ONE EXPLAIN THIS 1971 CHALLENGER HAS A V IN FRONT OF THE VIN NUMBER ONLY ON THE DASH TAG???? 1971 CHALLENGER R/T 440 6PAK ORIGINALLY A 383 4BBL CAR
