car buying question
Looking for peoples input about the following. I may be interested in this car. 1976 Plymouth Scamp, 318 with Edelbrock peformer intake and Edelbrock 4 barrel carb., power steering, manual brakes, 3 speed on the floor, 100,000 miles. Does this sound like a decent car? Any issues with getting parts for this car? Any pro and con responses appreciated. Thanks

Welcome.
Tough question.
Why do you want that car/what's the end game?
Price?
76 with Power steering and "manual" breaks doesn't sound right.
Besides the carb and manifold what, if anything, was done to the engine/drive train?
Original suspension?
Body condition?
1976 was well into the smog era, so the engine with or without the induction mods will be anemic at best.
That doesn't mean it can't be a fun car to drive or a good project, but that goes back to my first question.

Yeah, definitely all he said. Look for mods, and pay special attn to the wiring--POs love to jack up wiring .
Otherwise, no, that 318 is easy for parts and building. Get some decent heads on it and a cam, etc, push 300 horse with ease.

Ooooooo, that is sooo nice! Good looking car, man.
People like to make wiring up as they go lol. Most the issues I see in older cars are off the firewall, on the driver fender, and under dash by the wheel—stereos and the like, doncha know. Looks like this example is clean but I always check anyhow. Better safe than a car fire.
