Is this dart sport (demon) worth it? Looking for my first mopar

Hey guys, im new to this forum and actually new to classic cars. Im shopping around and basically have 10,000 to spend MAX.

I have been doing some looking around for a couple months now.

what do you think of this car.

Its a 1976 Demon with a 360 in it. Looks like its in solid shape, but i need the opinion of some experianced people.

I can get this car for $ 9,000

That looks more like a Dart Sport than a Demon. What kind of Mopar do you really want?

ya, I realize that they changed the name from demon to dart sport in 73, but isn't it still really the same car?

I was actually looking for a Duster but this one came along.
Im not too picky and like I said i'm new to this. Just looking for a sporty classic car in good shape with a nice motor.

I am on a budget though.

What do you recommend?

it does have a 360 in it so I figured that would put a smile on my face while im in the car.

It also has an upgraded cam and flow master dual exhaust to give it a better sound and a little more giddy up.

Demons were 71/72 only. Same car theortically, but Dodge had to change the name because Church goers got upset that they were trying to "mean" something with the name.

But You don't call a Dart sport a Demon. It's 2 seperate cars.

It looks like a decent car, the pictures are hard to tell though. but $9000 seems a bit much IMO

If you were looking for a Duster, and came across this Dart Sport, you're doing good! I was looking for a Fury III 2 door, found the cleanest four door and it's growing on me to the point that I really like it!

You can buy pretty much any mopar you want for $9,000. Of course no hemi, or six pack car of anything like that. But I am constantly on craigslist and ebay looking at stuff and I have seen pretty much every mopar under the sun at one point or another in that price range. Challengers, Cudas, Roadrunners, Super Bees, Coronets, Darts, Dusters, Demons, Chargers..... Pretty much all of em.... Of course no SuperBirds or Daytona Chargers lol. But You should most definately weigh your options set yourself down on google images look at a bunch of different pictures of all different mopars and go with the one that catches your eye the most. And I believe that car is quite a bit over priced myself.... I got my challenger for $5,500 Running and driving and just about in the same condition it is now. All I have done to it was put the T/A spoiler on it and the rally hood. Do yourself a favor and take your time look at pictures of them all (ALL MOPARS) Figure out the one that you just absolutely fall in love with and shop for it. I promise you will eventually find the one you decide on, especially if you are willing to spend that kind of money. Unless thats the exact mopar that you dream of on a daily basis, I would pass it up and find the one that you dream of. Just keep a close watch on craigslist in your area, ebay, the news paper. And this site craiglook.com it searches craigslist all over the united states and you can limit down to anywhere within 250 miles and closer of your zip code. And make sure you type in all kinds of different possibilities for what your looking for. For instance if your shopping for a 1970 super bee, you would also want to put in 1970 superbee, 70 super bee, 70 superbee. Make sure your not missing any deals. I buy and sell all kinds of stuff for a living and finding stuff is one of my specialties. Please let me know if I can help you out.

Couple of good Demons, the Challenger is sharp and that Coronet could be a sharp ride with some love!

Thats what I thought, I found a ton more while I was looking for cars in that price range. But I didn't feel like listing them all. Also didnt know if he minded a drivable project like that coronet or like so many other cars I have come across. If you go the route of a driver project you can really find some killer deals. I really liked the challenger and the coronet. That coronet could be an incredible ride with some TLC.

One other thing don't buy a car cause everyone else wants it. Buy exactly what you want. For instance... everybody loves chargers. When I was shopping a lot of people tried to tell me I should go with a charger or a cuda.... Personally they are not my favorite by any means, I really wanted a challenger. But now I'm getting ready to start shopping again myself for another nice mopar to park next to my chally. I am leaning towards a 1970 super bee, or a 70 cuda. Or possibly another challenger. Not sure yet. I am having a really hard time deciding lol.

right on guys, I appreciate the advise.

I have been getting alot of opinions lately, and have done alot of searching around on the net. There are better deals out there than that dart, for sure.

i do have around 9,000 to shop with how ever that either has buy a car that needs very little to nothing, or a good deal on something that I could fix up with the remainding .

I am going to wait it out until spring.
I really would like to find a duster or a demon.
preferable 71-72 duster.

It's gotta be manual tranny, and a 340.

Ill be keeping my eye out in the mean time incase anything I can't pass up comes along though.
