daughters car wont start

i need help my daughters car is a 1995 pontiac bonneville with a 3.8 motor her husband started it go pick her up at work and it was fine haif way there at a light it lost some rpm's did not stall he got to where she works and was waiting for her to come out with it running idling alittle slower daughter said it sounded like it making a putting noise he gave it gas and it made a loud screeching noise like stepping on a cat my daughter said it sounded like it came from the rear of the car not the motor then stalled now it still turns over but wont start iam leaning towards the fuel pressure regulator because she says that when she turns the key she can hear the pump kicking on plus i cant believe that the injectors would go at once she says it sounds like its out of gas but she has a full tank any ideas of info or thoughts would be great

I don't know where the load noise would have come from but, it sounds like fuel pump to me.

I know I just wrote I suspected fuel pump. I had a Lumina that did the same thing. Take a fuel line off and check the pressure. Hope that noise she heard wasn't the timing belt

Please, please, please troubleshoot the problem before making the fuel pump companies any richer!!! Rent a fuel pressure test kit from autozone. Things like cam and crank position sensors will stop the injectors from firing!

Even though GM is notorious for dying fuel pumps this is an excellent suggestion. Especially cause I've personally encountered a 3.8 crank sensor going out the engine stopping dead and it caused the belt to chirp.
