Went looking for a mope on craigs list. In the 100-700 range here's what I am down too as far as the final choice. 1. an 1984 dodge diplomat in very good cond. $600 or; 2. A 1966 Dodge pickup in good condition for $600.
{either of these would be more reliable that what I am driving now}
The pickup needs some minor things like a rubber brake hose for the rear brakes and a new slave cylinder for the clutch.
The Dippy dont need much [minor interior work and small vinyl top issues]
I'm trying to weigh this out but each has its good and bad points. Either way I got to get rid of one of my other daily drivers. 1975 ford p/u with a very rotten cab or my 68 4dr chevelle with a pontiac motor installed with lots of rust. {still workin on the 71 Duster. Its a long term project}
The dippy looks good cause of the power everything but the truck is nice too
Truck has a 318 with 435 trans and a dana 60. Power steering and manual drum brakes. Comes with alot of extra parts that I could sell [extra doors and fenders] I got an extra 318 in mint shape and an extra 727 trans if I wanted to make it automatic. I think I'm leaning towards the pickup cause you dont see them everyday.

So, could use some input {not good at making descisions}

yeah, think its gotta be the truck cause the kid with the Dippy sent an e-mail that someone gave him 1/2 down on it so it is gone from the picture.

Be careful about that D60. Some of the earlier years, like that one were 19 spline, not the 30 spline that most are (or 35 int eh HD version). I'd pull an axle shaft just to double check it. if it is a 19 spline, i'd pull the axle in favor of a FFD60.

 

Yes thanks for the tip. You know my 75 ford has a D60 rear with 8 lug wheels. Wondering if it would fit in an old Dodge. I bet it is wider. you ever done this before 78D200?? [swaped rears from ford to dodge]
what about the lug pattern? Would a 66 3/4 ton dodge have 6 or 8 lug wheels?

 

The widths of the WMS should be close but the spring perches will probably be wider on the ford. I've never swapped the two before, just dodge for dodge.

The lug patterns should all be 8 on 6.5, even on that 66, as long as it is a 3/4 ton or larger. it wasn't till 99 when ford cam out with the 8 on 170 metric lug pattern that you have to start worrying.
