The end is near
I think the end of the best looking and performing cars is coming. Very soon we will start seeing fiat badged dodges and small fiat influenced mopars. I am worried what they will do because personally the 2010 dodge lineup right now is the best out of all manufactureres right now. Dodge doesn't have a car I don't like. I've read that they are a out to relase a updated charger and I e seen it and it doesn't look bad, but in a few years they will completely redo the charger and a update for the challenger is already coming. I say 5 more years of good cars until the little fiats hit the streets. Does Anyone else have this fear?

I work there. And no, we have nothing to fear. The Challenger and Viper are what the industry calls "Halo" cars. They are the ones that generate excitement about the brand. The little Fiat 500's round-out the product portfolio, but are not where the profit is. Fiat has an extensive distribution network in Europe, and that can only be good for Chrysler.
Yea it might be good to have some distribution in europe but they're not gona but chargers and challengers and our big v8s because of their gas prices. Their Gina probably going to have little rebadged fiats as chryslers and dodges. And if you've noticed with other companies cars that people buy nowadays are getting smaller. I think in 20 years we won't have any more good new cars.
the 500 is the only fiat to be RE-badged as a chrysler at the moment ma mopar is alive and well though they said they want to move away from the big HEMIS and focus more on the penstar v6s and turbos but at the same time are talking about bringing out yet a BIGGER HEMI so who knows
Yea the hemi will probably be here to stay for a few more generations but it will eventually be all about that pentstar v6. Fiat will start with rebadging just the 500 first then people will probably like them and start buying them up and fiat will think that we need more like the 500 and the wipe out the whole current lineup and make it all fiat. It might happen very slowly, but it will happen.
i dont think dodge will ever get rid of the Hemi. nore do i think that we will lose our big trucks and cars, theres always going to be people who need the big trucks for work and what not. and u kno the old people like the big cars lol, i think we'll be ok =)
Actually I would choose death before dishonor. I would want dodge Chrysler to go out with a bang rather than to live on with some crappy foreign cars claiming to be our American mopar we love.
I also agree that we will always have our big trucks, but they will eventually change the drivetrains on them to half electric then all electric and the we might have an electric hemi. Our grandkids will probably say have you seen that sweet new ram with the hemi that charges in only 30 mins. It's already happening, Nissan is about to releasethe all electric leaf and chevy with the super hybrid volt. People will start loving the all electric cars and other companies will follow suit. I will admit, thinking about having to never pay for gas again would make me consider an electric car but I wil never sellout to electric because I don't want that for the future.
Let me Pose a question. Where do we get the electricity to charge these cars? form a power grid fed by a plant. and most run on coal. How is more demand for juice going to stop pollution? Just a thought.
Yes that is true but most people don't think about this and think just because it's electric it will have no emissions. The companies pushing for electric vehicles say that the big electric plants do have emissions and pollution but they say that it's easier to control the pollution coming out of one power plant rather than thousands if cars, they say that they can filter that one plant better than all of our gas cars. People just have to understand that no matter how we change power we will always be polluting one way or another.

have to agree with u there 100% as sad as it may be, it just would be the same old mopar

It's 2010 and the car of my dreams is now appox 40 years old.
So if Chrysler folds up now, I figure I got at least another 40 years before I got to worry about it

I can't imagine 50 years from now when kids will be saying " I just got my first car. It's a classic I'm going to restore, it's a toyota prius." it's gonna be alot harder for kids in he future to do a backyard resto wiu all the electronics these cars have.
Cars will be rated in watts and newton-Killograms. Instead of whats under the hood, they will be talking about the latest software the car is computing on.
I can hear them now! "Ive got Toyota version 7.1! Its the fastest there is My eighth mile time is 20 seconds"
Personally, I think Chrysler should have allowed to die with honor in 1978. Everything they built after 1978 has been garbage, IMO. I wish the big trucks would go away too. All they do is litter the passing lane with oversize vehicles that cannot get out of their own way.
And think about it. The fewer the "Hemi" look-a-likes out there, the more value our old big-blocks will have.
