Excess gas smell

I am a new member. I have a 64 Polara 500, 318 wide block, 2bbl car. Last year had the carb completely gone through and new plugs and wires. Car is idling at around 600 rpm’s and still continues to run rough when stopped in gear idling. After a drive and in the garage shut off there is an excessive gas smell. When the carb was gone thru also 2 plugs (not sure if terminology is right) we’re leaking and repaired. Looking for suggestions where to start to reduce or eliminate the smell. Someone at home has a sensitive nose. Could the pcv valve be an issue? Bad fuel pump? Any help would be appreciated.

Check for visual leaks under the hood?
Also, Warm up the car, Pull off the Air Cleaner, Turn the car off. Use a flashlight and look down the airhorn of the carb and see if you see it dripping fuel? If it is? then you still have a carb issue.
Also, Look down in there while its running at idle and see if it is dripping? If it is, That could just be a setting that needs to be addressed.
