Fuel regulator question

Hey everyone got a question. I have a 1968 383 w/slight cam. Running with an Edelbrock 450. I just put a Temsone fuel regulator it goes up to 5 1/2. So I started at 2 and worked my way up to 5 1/2 and still won’t idle. What
am I doing wrong.
Thanks Again ……

Maybe I'm missing some part of the question. The fuel regulator? Why on a carburetor car? Are you running a high pressure/volume electric fuel pump? If so 5 1/2 lbs is sufficient for a decent idle. I think your idle problem isn't caused by pressure. Is the carb flooding while running or creating black smoke out the exhaust? Even with a slight cam they can be angry to idle. Best total advance (special timing light) is around 34 degrees + or- 2 degrees at 2000-2500 rpms.

Ignition timing has to be correct before any carb changes are made. For a street cam you might need 10 to 15* initial timing at idle. Then you should have full mechanical timing in by 2100 to 2500 rpm, if you have stock cast iron heads total timing will be around 35*. The initial timing is critical for idle and off idle performance, especially for a nonstock camshaft. So increase the timing and see if it improves your idle. On a stock or aftermarket distributor you will need to shorten the amount of advance that’s in the distributor. You will need a curve from say 15* to 35* or twenty degrees of advance, your stock distributor may have 30* of advance built in.
Verify that the timing is correct first…

It takes a village of Mopar owners to fine tune one. Glad it's running well.
