help on 318 heads
ok so im about to buy my cam for my 318 but i dont know what the lift is on my valve springs, i know i have already asked this question but i never really got a clear answer..... what is the valve spring lift on a stock 318 la?
not sure .
373/400 seems to be average std 318 cam lift .
my first guess of . 440" might be to much for std springs .

if they are stock used springs I would not go any more than whatever cam it had in it before. the old ones have "taken a set" so now you start making them do more they can break. I had this on my 318 in my 79 truck. and I only went "1 step" over for some extra torque. 3 days after getting teh engine back in from a total rebuild I busted 3 of them. I replaced all of them with "stock replacement" springs (was only ~$2/ea but that was almost 20 years ago)
well im getting the lifters that come with the mopar performance cam, but now im confused on my spring and on which ones i should get. the cam i want has a lift of .450/.455, but there is another one i saw that is a lift of .474/.474, whats the difference in those cams? and what springs do i need for them?
