HEMI radiator

Hey guys, new to the forum and new to Mopar. Just bought a 69 Hemi Roadrunner with NASCAR cross ram 2-4 intake manifold. The car came with a Griffin radiator (3600CFM fan) and an electric water pump. The car runs fine as long as it's moving but in stop and go traffic she edges up to 200. I was told there is a 'HEMI radiator", and one could be had for around 800 bucks. First would this resolve my issue. Second should I go back to a manual water pump and fan or add a fan or two to the HEMI radiator. Another option is to ge a larger capacity aluminum radiator? Any help appreciated.

The Griffin radiators are quite good (and pricey), so as long as you have the right size one, you might want to look elsewhere for your cooling problems. Sludge / rust in the water passages (or the radiator), bad thermostat, inadequate fan (cfm), etc. I'd rule out that stuff before swapping radiators. (Flush the system and change the stat.)

Depending on what you want to do with the car, for simplicity, kinda hard to beat a manual pump, and LARGE flex fan. I'm using a 160 stat and unless traffic is really bad, things stay quite cool.

Welcome to the show man.. Awesome car, just awesome.
Is there a fan shroud on the car, cant really see from pic angles ?
And do you know if the rad is a four core now ?
And as mentioned a good flush never hurt.

Thanks guys! Don't know enough about Mopar's to speak on the intake. Only quoting what the seller told me, he has owned in excess of 15 Mopar's (6 original Superbird's), I will do my research and revisit topic. The Griffin radiator seems small to me for the engine size, both in width and depth. I asked about the Hemi radiator because they were made for the engine. Have not been under the hood with my wrench yet (thermostat temp) but this weekend should be fun. The engine has only 500 miles since build so I doubt there would be a sludge or need to flush.....but then again I only know what I've been told. I will be as thorough as possible in my assessment of the problem and it will be resolved. I don't do trailers with my cars and I have a need for speed.

Will post more pics this weekend and thanks again for making me feel welcome.

Welcome! Totally sweet ride! I just got done doing as radiator on my car due to heating issues. I also have a fresh engine (440), but I had a 22in small block radiator in use. I went with a 3 core 26 in aluminum radiator I got off ebay advertised to cool uep to 850hp made by Champion ($219). I do not have a shroud, and I am just using the belt driven fan. I am using a 180 degree tstat The warmest day so far has been a bit over 80 degrees and on the road the temp is hanging around 185 degrees. In traffic it goes up to 200, but as soon as I move again, it is back down to 185. I am considering getting the shroud and electric fan made for this raditor just to deal with the heating in traffic (cruises), but so far so good for the setup I am running now.
