hot starting problem
My 16 to son has a 69 coroner with 440 it has recently been attacked by some sort of electrical gremlin it has anew alternator battery regulator when you get in to start it cold it cranks fine but once engine runs for 15 minutes or so it will not turn overp

I'm assuming by "turn over" that you mean it does not crank, or does not crank very fast, when hot.
Your no1 suspect is the starter, but don't just throw parts at the thing, unless you like to waste money
Have the battery load tested, and take a look at the battery specs -- is it a heavy enough battery to crank a big V8?
Take a good look at the cables. They can corrode internally which makes them electrically smaller wire. Any noise, sizzling connections, or hot cables, is a giveaway.
The RIGHT way to do this is to use what is called a "carbon pile" load tester, with which you can
load test the battery
test the battery cables
measure the starter amperage draw
They look something like this:

I could be way off but have you or has he messed with the timing at all? I had a issue with a car I used to have where the timing caused the motor to not want to turn over very slowly or not at all after it got warmed up, probably not it but its an easy thing to check
