Question Lean Burn? 1982 dodge mirada

I own a 1982 dodge mirada that is all stock with the 318 motor im looking for any ways to increase horsepower. ive heard heard the car uses some type of computer system called lean burn and ive heard u can increase hp that way. What exactly does it all do? can i take it out without having any problems? im still paying for the car and cant afford any big mods to gain power looking for cheap ways now. any suggestions?

Need to convert it to a conventional ignition. Replace the distributor and the ign module

Getting rid of lean burn will help with starting and running of the car. I dought you will see any increase in hp. Your 318 in 1982 was lucky to pump out 140 hp tops. The problem lies in your 8.5:1 compression ratio and your pistons 1/2" in the hole at top dead center. Sorry but money is what you need to gain more hp.
