Line Lock ?
Line Lock ?
I want to do something like this on our truck before the race Friday night.
I would like to keep it as simple as possible and
I'm thinking that I can accomplish the same thing by just putting in a manual valve in the rear brake line to allow me to shut off the rear brakes. The obvious problem with this setup would be remembering to turn them back on before the ride home.
Is there any other reason you guys can think of that might make this a bad idea?
Thank you
Joe.

Maybe Mack can chime in on this but I remember reading someplace [I think here from Steve (Crazy4carz.com) may have said it but don't quote me].
Radials hook up better without doing a burnout. The heat from the burnout can make them more slick that sticky due to the compounds. Slicks need to be heated up in order to stick.
Like I said, I thought I read that someplace, but I could be wrong. IF it is true, I would look into getting a second set of tires (either full slicks or street slicks - see links) and wheels before getting a linelock.

Ya, I guess I might want rear brakes after the finish line.
And a manual valve would not be fail safe either, shut off the rear brakes
and then have the front fail.....
Thanks for the links Tim, to be quite honest I have yet to have trouble with traction
it's more like I'm trying to do whatever I can to make the tires spin LOL. Back when I
was a kid I had a pair of Micky Thompson low profile slicks on my '66 Impala those were cool tires
Thank you
Joe.

I don't know about the rules of a manual switch but if I were doing it I'd put it in the front brake lines and only turn it on when I got the brakes "pumped up". Then you will have to release it after the burnout... That way all brakes will work in getting it stopped at the top end.... This is a line lock... Look in Jegs or Summitt I don't think they are that expensive. Maybe a couple hundred and this will include the solenoid and switch and light to remind you its on... I have mine on a push button that way when I release it its off..... Mack
