although the late 70`s mopes arent like the desired 1`s, they still made them with manual trans and small blocks, a guy can really work 1 over w a 360 and a kiesler 5 speed, and make a rocket out of it.

p.s if i remember right the 76/77 front ends on the V and the RR looked the same so you will have to either get up close and look at it or like you said call them and see what they got

unless it has a /6 you're looking at a 14 mpg daily driver (if it had a 318) more like 12 mpg at the most of its a 360.
idk - unless someone here is actually getting good gas mileage out of a mopar small block
i get 7 mpg on my '67 crewcab powerwagon - and i consider that good considering the air resistance and the fact that its huge and weighs 6440 lbs.

i dont mean to sound like an *** but i honestly find that very hard to believe. are you actually dividing the number of miles driven be the exact amount of gallons you put in the tank?
and **** if thats true - tell me about your motor and whats ur transmission, do you have O/D, and what are your rear-end gears, what rpm do you cruise at 70 mph, what carb and carb size, what heads, camshaft, and what all else you've done to that engine?
i mean ive heard of 440 cars getting like 12-13 mpg and to me thats sounds like excellent mileage for a such a huge engine...
i know the 440 powered dodge trucks got gas mileage in the single digits...

Hey stick, beleive it or not, gtx could be righ ton. I had a cuda that got 19 to the gallon. it was a 440, 10-1, 284-428 purple shaft, rhodes lifters, 2.14 intake and 1.88 exhaust valves. mild port job, 6bbl setup, I ran the felpro gapless rings, ( molly) , hemi 4spd, and 3.23 sure grip . when I stayed out of it, I got 19 to the gallon.ran 55 all the time( when I stayed out of it) roughly 2100 rpm`s at 55. tach and speedo were acurate, checked it to the wifes dailey driver, because i didnt beleive it at first myself.

theres just no one in my area that has a muscle car or carburated truck that gets anything close to "good mileage"

I used to get around 13 mpg with the 400 in the Cordoba, all around driving including stop and go and some highway. It had some power too, for it being pretty much stock.

not to sound rude, but wouldnt you do better with the smaller 1.81 exhaust valve?
