I am a car bigot! Mopar or No Car is my motto! As far as the project with the step dad. Just make sure it doesn't become YOUR project. I've seen so many people buy a car then EXPECT you to work on it with them everytime the wind blows. I like the idea of buying oldsmobileman's 70 Charger. Who doesn't like a 2nd gen Charger? Just don't do another Dukes car with it unless it really hauls!!!

Damn did not mean to hit a nerve not bashing ones likes, just saying different strokes for different folks, i too have had many cars and have worked on plenty of late models that you have to disassemble to check the oil, i just like any late 60s early 70s muscle cars just so happens i bought a cuda i was actually looking for a 69 camaro when i saw my cuda and thats all she wrote i'm now looking for another 64-66 a body for a driver/project. I also own a dodge 3500 drw cummins won't own anything else but a dodge cummins truck.

While at first it did strike a nerve what is cool about it is the reality it struck with me personally. I bounced back and forth between car brand throughout the 80's and 90's. It was only after getting burned on several GM vehicles and my personal experiences turning wrenches that really turned me off to Bozo stuff. I'd still like to have a mid 60's Buick Riv or mid 60's T Bird. I'm really glad there's plenty of people that buy up the Cheb's because there's only so many old cars out there and that makes the chances of me landing the Mope's I'm looking for all that more likely. It is kind of funny with some folks I've run into locally at cruise nights. I was checking out a very nice Challenger T/A and after about 10 minutes talking to the guy he only wanted to talk about his 68 Cramaro SS. I listened, then went back to the car I liked. There was an award given out that night to the best "pony car". They gave the car to a 70 AMX and some guy with a 69 Cramaro yelled out "AMX's aren't no damn pony car". He then left all disgruntled that he didn't get a ten dollar trophy.

I only like a handful of Stangs, Mostly the Boss' and Mach1's. I also like some fox bodies and my dads sleeper 99' GT. I love mopars and they're all towards the top picks of my list but i do, i repeat do like other muscle cars, early Chevelles, Novas, GTOs, AMCs,Trans Ams and worked Beetles! I don't really care for the other 64+ mustangs, I mean there are 4 or 5 early 60's Mustangs and a 68 Firebird in my neighborhood. I'm the only one with an old mopar that i know of.

As I live in Japan getting a Mopar is not much of an option. There are dealerships here which sell new Challengers and such, but the cost is about 1/3 more than what they go for in America. Importing an old car is difficult because it must pass an inspection (all cars in Japan are inspected every 2 years), and a car can fail inspection for simple things like dents, faded paint, or even a window which doesn't roll up or down.

One of the good things about Japan is that used cars are cheap. Now I drive a 2003 911 Carrera (who'd have thunk it?), it's not as fast or fun as my old GTO, but it cost only half as much, and the engine is small enough that the road tax isn't too high. If you have a car with an engine over 5 liters in size you have to pay $1000 a year in road tax. This is in addition to inspection fees and insurance, and the price of gas which is around $7 a gallon for super. Needless to say I don't drive much.

Damn and we complain here my son wanted to move to japan but i talked him out of it due to the fact that it's expensive, told him when you graduate from college maybe you can land a job that will put you there. As far as mopars i had a guy who owns the local speed shop tell the small group of us mopar guys that his hats off to us because mopars are the most expensive to build thats why he builds chevys.

I'm a purist makes me sick to see a 32 ford with a chevy motor or watch pinks and see a mopar or a ford with a chevy in it. I understand why it's done but i prefer to keep things the same brand just my opinion.

I feel the same way. Easier and cheaper aren't the way I approach things. I'd love to have a 33-38 Dodge or Plymouth with a 392 Hemi! Go old school instead of all the billet stuff. Or even go 318 so long as it all matches up under the MoPar banner.
